#1 of 2: Cast Iron Western Horse Shoe

EDIT: Title should read Stirrup vs Shoe.
As with my last (leather) horse stirrup post, this is a single. I'm not a horse person (they invariably lay their ears down in my presence) so I really cannot explain my fascination with their tack & other accoutrements.
If any of you have an interest in such stuff, I'll be glad to hear your comments on this one...an' the other one I'm about to post.

They don't look familiar at all, really! I started looking at McLellan military saddles, as some of them had metal stirrups, but didn't see any matching....

Some dimensions:
The cross-bar is 4 1/8" long overall, 7/8" diameter; the slot on its lower surface is 1 1/8' x 1/2"; the hole is 3/8" diameter.
The stirrup is 5 3/4" high an' 6" wide; the foot-plate is 4 1/2" x 2", an' 5/32" thick. It weighs 17 1/2 ounces.
I doubt it was ever covered with leather, or anything else.
