These belong to the friend whose wife is in memory care. She collected a wide range of stones an mostly costume jewelry.
the beads are ~1" by ~0.8" by ~1/4"-~5/15" thick; aggregate weight is ~96 grams.
The yellow on some of them seems to be a dye, but I don't have any clue beyond that. What do you see, and what does it mean...what've I got here? Thanks for lookin'!

Chinese turquoise beads. Maybe the stabilized chalk turquoise stuff. I don't think they're anything crazy. These strings showed up in bead shops and Michael's, etc.

    I agree with @evelyb30
Absolutely Chinese turquoise. Not worth a bunch, but still pretty.

Turquoise, definitely. Undyed, almost surely. Stabilized, quite likely. But what about them says Chinese to you guys? I don't know that they're not, so looking to learn myself. Very blue turquoise with black veins I always suspect as Chinese, not material mottled in quite this way, in quite these colors.

They look Tibetan to me. Natural colours, not dyed chalk turquoise.
    Not lozenge shape imo.:shy:

Right you are, AJ...now that I've looked into the matter. Flat oval shapes aren't lozenges. Does that shape have a generic name? Thanks...

Flat oval is about right. I called them Chinese because that's the country I associate them with. The stone itself may be Tibetan, but dollars to donuts they were finished off in China.

In my opinion, it's that blue/green/yellowy gold mix with strong black matrix.
When I see this combo, I think most likely Chinese.
Kingman and Sonoran Gold sometimes looks like this though.
Of course, Chinese turquoise can be very expensive and very beautiful.

Ditto on the color mix. Those yellows, odd greens, and the pieces made of solid brown matrix are diagnostic for Chinese turquoise or close to it. The combination makes it a lock.

Thanks, both of you. Always grateful for eye training on things like this. I actually prefer turquoise that is more green than blue, with jumbled color & matrix. The uniformly sky blue stuff leaves me cold.
