    Hi all,

I'm new to the forum and really appreciate everyone's advice. I recently missed an opportunity to buy this beautiful chair and, with COVID-19, I think there is a chance it may become available again. I am curious about its possible value and its age. It is believed to be from the late 16C or early 17C and upholstered with a 19C tapestry.

Hmmmmm, no, don't think 16-17th century. Where are you, where is the chair?
Really can't see much of the chair in this photo except for the cover but i would guess more likely the chair is 19th century as well.

Agrees, from what little we can see, a bit to "curvy" for an early chair.

The stretcher configuration isn't correct for 16th or 17th century, so I agree .. late 19th c. interpretation. Great textile, BTW! Quite a party going on there!

I'd like to have a peek at those two curule chairs in the background also, if you're going back. Thanks!

I thought we were back in Charlie's spare room, but then I noticed there was no Lava Lamp!;)

Until I redecorated about six months ago, I had two chairs with those exact frames (except the shape of the back was different). Mine were late 20th century.
EDIT: This is the only photo I could find, you can just see part of one to the left of the Christmas tree.

Yeah, I don't doubt it. I think these are supposed to be Louis XIII style chairs and, i am guessing they have making versions of them since the mid 17th century.
Here is one that claims to be period, whether that is correct, i have no clue but, it does have the "look" of a period chair.

Louis 13 ?? You don't hear about HIM very often in the furniture world! It's confusing enough keeping track of the next three!

    That's for sure.
Meanwhile, whatever happened to OP, @Bakersgma quietly stashed him in a closet? has him under quarantine? Where he go?

Why would I have anything to do with Louis XIII? :hilarious: Besides, I don't have a single closet in this house! :banghead:

Whoa - You're talking about the OP? Sorry, I don't know him.

Hmmmm, guesses things reached the west a little slower then. By 1900 closets were the BIG selling point on east coast for new houses, they were small but you kinda needed them if selling new houses. Mom wanted them and we KNOW how that worked out.
OK, retracts closet, quietly stashed OP in the basement? attic? outside in the garage!:hilarious:
I dunno where this guy got off to, we've been jilted!

Perhaps he was not pleased with the answers he got both here and in his other thread.
