I went to my local antique shop this morning.

I sell him antique furniture I get in house clearances, it saves me time storing and polishing stuff.

Anyhow, he just got this in before I arrived and I found a picture of an identical one in my book.
So who ever made the one in the book made this, not bad for nearly 300 years old.

The top two drawers won't open unless you open the second drawer and press a spring loaded switch.

No, he bought it in before I arrived.

I don't want it but helped him identify it.

I'm surprised its survived so well, especially during the period 1939-1945 when this city was just about wiped off the map

Its been in the family home for over 100 years in the city and never been offered for sale before, the area it was from was heavily bombed, my Mum lived nearby.

Maybe they had a miraculous statue of the Virgin Mary on it, that seems to have worked in the area I live in.:angelic::D

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Beautiful piece, and a survivor. I hope he sells it and that your work on ID-ing it helped.
