1812 Book: Suggestions needed

Hey folks! Found in mid MO antique mall. Any ideas on suggestions on the find?

 

Here are other copies available on a collectible book web site. Keep in mind these are asking prices, not sold prices. Also keep in mind that age and scarcity doesn't necessarily translate into value.

eBay has no sold Sold Listings of your volume but they do have two currently on offer, a 1st and a 4th edition. Once again, these are asking prices.

Thanks Debora! Modern Geography is the add of the new publication in the back of this book. This books name The English Reader by Lindley Murray.

It appears that Murray's English Reader was published by a variety of publishers in the early 19th century. Here is a page from BookFinder.com which lists copies currently available from used book sellers:

Differences in asking price will relate, to some extent, to the physical condition of the book.

 

Is that a library stamp on the page previous to the title page?

 

Interesting question. It might also be an ownership stamp of an individual or a school.

I see indications in a journal article that Lindley Murray's English Reader was first published in 1799. And as @2manybooks learned, many publishers came out with their own printings or editions of it.
