Another item I bought today :)

I think the main image is a transfer print, with handpainted outlines and highlights

    Text on the lid:
Badisches Landes Schützenfest in Mannheim den 28. Juni 1863
(Baden State Marksmen Festival in Mannheim on 28 June 1863)

Unfortunately the pewter isn't fixed correctly anymore

Any idea what the best way would be to fix this?

Nice find, Marote. Love the eagle thumb rest. Overhere eagles are for the 'king' of the shooting guild.
I suppose there is no movement in the clasp?
Old pewter can become a bit 'brittle', for lack of a better word. And you don't want to damage the stoneware. Maybe take it to a metalworker who is used to working with antiques.

    I think this protruding bit
    upload_2025-3-24_0-30-38.png
used to be a bit longer, to fit well into the cavity. I can slide it into the hole, and the protrusion might just be long enough as it is, to keep it in place, but I don't know what the best way would be to keep it fixed to the stoneware.
I think someone already tried to repair it, as it looks as if the protrusion has been soldered.

It is a vulnerable little protrusion, and pewter is not the strongest of metals. If you want to keep it for yourself, you could secure the clasp to the handle with museum putty or something similar.
