Hello! I bought the following ring from an estate sale in Manhattan. The seller knew nothing about the ring. I now know the inside markers to be B&P (each letter is inside a circle), possibly a crown symbol, 18k gold, sideways anchor for Birmingham Assay office, and dates stamp capital “R” with 4 cut corners made between 1866-67. I am hoping for more information on the style of ring, who B&P might have been, generally history of rings from that time (were they more common at that time or still only for elite classes) would the assay office keep records of who requested authentication at that time or who B&P might be? Thank you for any info!

No duty mark for Queen Victoria?

We really do need to see clear, readable pictures of the marks.

That's a white opal all right. The style doesn't look Victorian to me in the slightest, and the opal color is off. More 1960s than 1860s. Being able to see the marks would help.

That isn't Victorian in style or manufacture. The setting looks platinum for a start. Really really need to see the mark please. The fact that the date letter cartouche has cut corners is no indicator: almost all Birmingham gold marks do that, unlike silver. If it's a non italic non script capital R, it's probably 1941.

That's a lot of table and fingers, and the ring almost as an afterthought.;)
It looks like it could be a nice ring, but please, as the others asked, photos of the ring from different angles against a plain background, and a photo of the mark. Help us to help you.:)

Old leather wallet. Nice, but has seen a lot of use.
Smartphone, may not be an iPhone. Not brand new, but not old either.
