Found this at a boot sale yesterday, was very cheap but looked well made

One nearly shat oneself when he saw the clasp mark, but looking at examples online they are gold plated. Presuming the 0.750 means plated

There are a few people selling them with this mark as 18k gold, and one that I have seen sold as 18k with this mark for £500

They are not, but even the ones sold as plated sell quite well

Wondering the reason why, thought if they were just plated they would be worth a fiver or so

    Any thoughts appreciated

It is the millessimal fineness of 18k gold.:)
So it says gold twice. (Please don't sh*t yourself.:nailbiting:)
These were made in gold and in plated, in the 1960s. A lot were made in Italy, but this one doesn't have Italian marks.

Charlie, are the jewellers near you open yet? It is best to have it properly tested, non-invasive, to be sure. A simple acid test will say it is gold even if it is plated.

I don't have much time now, but I'll see if I can find the mark later.

I’ve had a couple of these and they were indeed plated. However I suspect that they were copied from bracelets that were 18k gold so never say never!
Have you tested it with a magnet?

    hi Aj and ksw

i'm not gonna count my chickens just yet, as it just doesnt seem right for gold to me

perhaps it some kind of fake gold mark, so will definetly get it tested

definetly not magnetic, but heavy for sure

The ones I had had that mark too. Sadly the design is a classic fake. Like Tiffany, I’d probably pass over one assuming as a fake when it’s the real thing!!

i thought some small areas had a dull silver colour, which i presumed was plating loss, but underneath the base metal is yellow

but could be brass, will get it tested to be sure

I had one just like it. 18 karat Brass I'm afraid. If it was that good.

    Lol, that’s shocking!
It’s even got a green stain on it. For that amount I’d be wanting it professionally tested and certification!
Thinking about it even if I had that money to spare I wouldn’t buy it.

ive ordered some gold testing acid as ive a few things that need testing anyway

they are remarkably similar in shape and size to vape liquid bottles, so i really hope i dont get them mixed up by accident ! :)

Lol, I nearly got caught out by putting the nail varnish remover on the shelf where I normally put the mouth wash. That combined with no glasses was nearly a sticky end! :nailbiting:

    Hi there!
I also have a similar bracelet with similar markings (rec'd in a jewelry lot years ago), which I believe is sometimes referred to as a "carpet bracelet" and is a piece of what is called "autobahngold". Google no longer wants to translate the following German website and has it not tagged as "not safe" ... so maybe only visit if you have good virus protection (personally, I think Google is being overly protective). These often real-looking fakes can be read about here

    http://www.autobahngold.de/

info and photos of the bracelets can be seen on this page here

Don't give up hope, I've a rather nice 18ct 750 bracelet grabbed for a quid at a car boot. ;)

I did think of posting something about Autobahngold in reference to this bracelet, but wasn't up to explaining or translating it all.:chicken:;)

Thanks for the info guys, I'm totally not expecting it to be gold so no worries there :)

Just out of interest do you think the eBay link one I posted was fake as well ?
