I'd call it a Missal, not a Prayer Book. It technically is the same, but people looking for these are looking for a certain type. It's in Latin so that dates it. I'd say the initials on the leather cover of a priest. I'm a long-lapsed Catholic so I don't know what they stand for. Maybe part of a priest's items to take along when giving sacraments to bedridden or dying parishioners.

Tornaci is aparently Tournay in Belgium.
At the begining of the book it has a spreadsheet with non fixed holidays.
It starts with year 1911, and goes until 1939.

Being from a French Canadian family, I have a few of these that are in Latin and French. I'm not sure what kind of market there is. Check Abebooks or A Libris.

There appears to be something stamped in the top righthand corner. Is that what you're referring to as "the siggie?"

The gilted initials C. Ss. R. are easy to identify from a quick internet search:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Congregation_of_the_Most_Holy_Redeemer

Your volume was published in Desclée & Soch in Belgium but the retailer J. Heindl was in Austria (Vienna.)

    Debora,
Thank you for your insight. I didnt know that C.Ss. R. was an order in catholic church and it had not occured to me to google it.
Meanwhile, I have polished and nurtured the leather and insignia on it and I have managed to decipher the rest of it says:
    "Adm.R.P.
    Pfallenwimmer
    C.Ss.R."

Adm. R.P. means "Very Reverend Father" or some such. But it's "Pfaffenwimmer," a surname found in Austria, not "Pfallenwimmer."
