Since etchings seem to be a popular topic on the forum, I thought I would post my most recent etching acquisition. A couple of weeks ago I took a trip down to Cincinnati to take a dozen or so works of art and pottery to auction. I went to a number of antique malls while I was there and purchased this etching at 1 of them. I paid $100, which I thought was a very reasonable price. The plate size is 9" by 7.5". There is some documentation on the back. This one is going to stay in my collection. I would say the condition of this one is pretty good, a little toning to the paper and a tiny stain up in the left corner. The artist has good credentials and is noted for being an accomplished etcher. I particularly like the subject matter as it reminds me of winters in the Mid West and when I have to bundle up to go cut firewood. I like the artist's use of white space! Very nice work.

And the sense of motion he creates with just black on white.
