1940, Give or Take; Risqué HitchHiker & Her Suitcase

I have covered many a mile on my thumb, back when the risk was thought to be lower, in the folly of youth. I vowed then to never pass someone hitching if I could stop. Those days are, sadly, long gone...too many cut-throats plying their nefarious trade!

I never did see any female person so blatantly leveraging her charms for a lift! That's probably a good thing, eh?

Matted at 8" X 12"; image is 4" X 8". Well-registered, very fine half-tone lithograph, signed by what looks like a stylized 'E' & LVG. Does it ring anyone's bell?

I apologize to those who may be morally or politically offended by her chutzpah.

 

Have you tried a Google Images search to see if it comes up with a duplicate?

Well, with all that leg, my guess is there'd be lots of pin-up stuff, contemporary to it.

But I will, just to do due diligence.

In case you don't know the term, the image would be described as "Good girl art" or GGA. That with "1940s" and "hitchhiker" brought up your image right away.

In an odd coincidence, I bought a box of old buttons on Friday. Inside were some of those stocking holder-upper thingies. Attachments for a garter belt.

...and I do like her shoes.

Yup - I've found boxed vintage stockings here and there but none with the seams. (darnitt) Never wore any though. Girdles/shapewear all the time - I'm a three time incisional hernia loser; they're required, since i have holes were muscle is supposed to be.
