    billyd3us Thanks All my Friends

I picked this up yesterday and have been doing research and only found one site that said they only seen 5 of these and 3 are in museums. I found some online dated 1953 but no mention of value, this is what I need to know before I make the mistake of taking to swap meet Sunday.

    Thank You

In a museum? What's the size? Looks like a restaurant paper placemat.

It's 14" x 18" and paper way to thin for a restaurant place mat in my opinion.

The Oakland Museum of California also appears to have one, but their site is down at the moment.

Thanks Bronwen. I contacted Barry Lawrence Ruderman in La Jolla, California and sent him photos of my map, he said the value was $250-$400 retail and he was interested in buying it, think he was correct or could it be worth more ?

I'm assuming that the retail price is what he would sell your map for. Did he tell you how much he would give you for it? Another option would be to consign it to an auction house and let market decide value.

Ruderman's offer will deduct repairs and restoration costs... But at least he gave you a number!

Look through the ones that can be found on the Internet again & check me on this, but struck me that they said approx. 1953 & were missing that bottom edge with the 1952 copyright date.

Maybe do a little more research - there are differences between yours and some I found.

Yours: Along the left side outside the graphic frame reads "dedicated to the wonderful belief and high... of the American Indian tribes..."

Others: hieroglyphics wrap around the outside margins.

I don't know what that means, exactly.l I'm on my phone, so too much scrolling and zooming to see clearly and keep track.

    Worthpoint
Prices were not good on any of it. On that page there are 2: The single map on the left sold for $20.50 in 2013

On the right, a set of 2(!) sold for $10, but that's why I say look for more comparables...

The one below is part of that set. Compare the words printed on the left margin to yours.
