1960's-70's woodblock print, thoughts?

Seeing that it is just signed with what appears to be a first name, I probably won't ID the artist. Just an amateur?

Sorry for the reflections --always tricky to photograph framed pieces.

 

There is a family with the surname "Bud" in Ellicott City, Maryland.

Vintage original 3 color hand pulled block print on Kiniwashi titled "Sparrows". Signed "Buel". Original wood frame and matte. Nellie Buel ( 1908-2002 ) was a well known artist and teacher for many years from Boerne, TX. She was an accomplished artist working in many different mediums.

Lucille, I thought at first the sig looked like BUD, but then I suddenly saw BUEL & looked it up!

(My first try was "BUEL" "wood block" - and there it was!)

 

Good eye noticing that! Amazing!

I thought it was a better piece, to my eye has a wonderful late 60's, early 70's vibe and I like birds. Figured I'd never find the artist with it just signed "Bud", (perhaps the same logic the Goodwill went through...) but it seemed like a well done wood block so picked it up. It might even be a keeper if I can find a spot to hang it.

Even more special now that I know who the artist is. Can't thank you enough!
