    Hello antiquers!

We have this intriguing etching for you today- it features a countryside scene with some birds and what appears ot be a village in the background. We have a signature. Does anybody know the artist, where he is from and where this setting could possibly be?

    Thank you for any info!!

Is it Lebee or Ebee? Is November in French abbreviated as "Nov"?
Lebee could be French. Ebee could be Irish?
No clue on the penciled writing.
    Anyway love it.

not sure if ebee is the siggy. perhaps the sign "X over L" has a significance. or is it a sign of a school club ? Chi over Iota ?
Nov. is used in French and German

one thing is good, it's an "epreuve d'artiste" acc. to scribbles by pencil

Very nice etching, I like the sketchy, flowing style.
Nov is used in most European languages. And épreuve d'artiste isn't just limited to French speaking regions, which is not much help.
But if I were to narrow it down slightly based on language, landscape, and style, I would say France, Belgium, Netherlands.

I'd exclude France because of the missing é in épreuve.

I found a piece yesterday that I did not think worth mentioning (there were bits I thought interesting compared to the piece above, but not enough) -- until @Fid said that bit about "X over L"...

Very little info here, but Xavier Lebee, French artist, the piece at the link is from 1993 https://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/56583513_print-xavier-lebee

Is that really the same guy? The primary reason I quit looking yesterday is because the company was "spoiling" all my searches. :hilarious:

[edit: just read the "about" for the company... I could have seemed so brilliant yesterday. :hilarious:]

I do understand you. problem is that every flake can found a company for 5000 € - car and tools etc. included - and call himself and his company whatever he likes. well, hey, it's France, everybody is an "artiste" here; Mom even wanted to baptize me Epreuve d'Artiste because she thought it sounded so gentry-like...
