hi guys, found this smallish (11" by 9") oil on board yesterday(unframed)

ive managed to date it by the board maker details :

    • Thomas Reeves and Son 1784-1799
    • W. J. Reeves 1799-1800
    • Reeves and Woodyer 1800-1816
    • Reeves, Woodyer and Reeves 1817-1818
    • W. J. Reeves and Son 1819-1829
    • Reeves and Sons 1830-1890
    • Reeves and Sons Ltd 1891-1976
could have been painted on an earlier board i suppose

was hoping someone could help with a possible location, gotta be one of the nese's right?

    any thoughts appreciated

The subject matter appears to be Japanese, but not the technique. I'd guess western and amateur, possibly inspired by a photograph. The base material is called mill board.

Thanks mos, I did wonder that myself about technique, makes sense with the board maker as well

That's very sweet. Not sure I'd call it Impressionist though. Looks like a straightfoward landscape.
