19th century plate Birmingham

  1. Can anybody help me to find out more about this particular piece, what does the stamp mean, what year is it?
    And why does a lion look so weird?)
    I would appreciate any information about this plate!

    That diamond mark on the plate is its registered design mark. 1868. That means the plate was made on or after that date. http://www.thepotteries.org/mark/reg.htm#1868

    Arjisu is the pattern name - monastery in Romania. Lindner was the retailer or merchant, not the maker. Without checking our archives, which aren't on line, it would be tricky to know the actual maker.

    As to the lion, no one had ever seen one in the wild,so they ended up looking very odd indeed. I love that one, he's hilarious.

    With that damage, sadly, not much. Maybe 10 to 20 euro?

  8. I found her during excavations in Bessarabia - Ukraine. I like it very much, i think it will stay in the family museum)
