I'm going to be posting 3 lidded silverplate dishes today --butter holders maybe? Usually avoid silverplate, but these were thrift prices, just put out, and as you will see when I post the 3, they are kind of interesting so even they aren't good for resale, was curious to learn about them. All signed and measure from 6 -7 1/2 inches to top of finial. Will separate into three threads.

Pretty sure this is an example of Aethestic movement silverplate. The top is unbelievably beautiful --spider webs, butterflies, crickets, exotic flowers. The finial is bent. Might be a fix for that, have not tried. Again, not sure if this matches the base. All comments appreciated.

    Here are photos for #2:

Gorgeous! Butter dish - same sort holder on the side. This one is a little later than #1 - japonisme, Aesthetic period as you concluded. 1880 - 1900?

So glad you are online just now to view these, Bakers. I appreciate you taking a look.

Bent finial or no bent finial, matching base or not matching base, there was no way I was leaving this set at the thrift. The work is just breathtaking in my opinion.

What do you think about top matching the base?

It seems to fit, right? I would have been on these like white on rice! I love this period!

Sometimes it hard to believe they got that much detail by die stamping/rolling mill a hundred years ago.

    That is exquisite.
Wondering about the purpose for the holders on the side.
