I'm assuming these are both modern, but I have no idea. They just look too new. Are they Chinese or Japanese?, and are they called transfer ware?
The first one is 9.5" high with a 5" base. What is it? It has a handle. A bucket? The red mark looks very familiar to me, and I tried Goth, but couldn't find it.
    Thanks for your time.

I also assume this is modern, but maybe someone could help with the mark? 12 1/4"diameter.

I have no idea about the first one, but your second one appears to have some age to it. I'm thinking second half of the 19th century for that one. Don't quote me on it though!

    Thanks moon, I appreciate that.:)
Is it japanese, in your opinion?, and just called blue and white?, or is there a name for it?

Oh, and I forgot to say, I did get them both in an antique store a while back, but I know that not everything in an antique store is antique, so that's why I wasn't sure about age. I need to stop buying asian items!! I won't, but I should!!:D I just can't figure them out.

The second one is contemporary giftware from the 華山 Kazan Kiln at Arita. Search these characters on Google Images: 華山窯 有田 .

I don't know how to search those characters?, but I did google Kazan kiln Arita and was able to find them. Thanks again for helping me.

The first one is a Japanese water bucket, used for decoration only. The real water
    buckets are made of wood.

I'm doing great, thank you for asking! My latest blood work shows no
cancer creeping up on me for now. I'm still dealing with neuropathy
in my hands and feet, but it is manageable. We're looking forward to
the holidays and heading to Arizona in January for a couple of months.
    Life is good!
