Featured 2 chinese? embroidered birds

    hi folks

    found these 2 in a print folio lot, caught my eye in the auction picture and could see that there was one, but two

    got a nice look about them, unsure of age, one has a chinese paper type backing

    any thoughts or info appreciated

    cool aren't they, wondering if the backing is indicative to the age of the pieces

    Should be. For instance, a pocket watch ad is likely to be pre-World War I.

    And that's great graphic design, with the watch chain creating a frame for the ad itself.

    Newspaper is from "Kurume City", the provincial capital of Fukuoka. Internet says the city of Kurume was established in 1889. Interestingly, housed the largest prisoner of war camp in Japan post-World War I. German and Austro-Hungarian prisoners.

    Invaluable can be maddening w/ price estimates. I'm trying to search out smaller regional auctions.I've seen great 'sold for' results on Invaluable-but the Art I've liked has gone thru the roof !
    $100-$1000 is meaningless,it's basically-'whatever somebody'll give ya for it !'.
