Featured 2 unusual native artwork pieces

Hi folks

something i picked up today from a local auction, finally getting back in the game, i'm like a blue peter tortoise in january

i'm presuming they are original works, signed on the back

they both have a strange rough texture

large pieces , 21 inches squared, different artists

any help or info would be magic

 

I have one very much like it. My late sister-in-law lived in Arizona and purchased it. She gave it to us before she passed. I have the paperwork that came with it but haven't got access to it at the moment. I think they're worth $300-$500. Depends on the artist. Navajo artist Rosebell Ben paintings can be found online.

 

The J. Benilly one is probably James Benally.

A bargain price for Navajo sand paintings.

 

Absolutely they are bargains, I really like them.

More intricate than most sand paintings I see here (and I see a lot). They don't bring much money here as a rule but certain artists do well. End result on the one at liveauctioneers is very good. You definitely got a bargain.

This is mine. Jon's sister lived in Arizona most of her life and she knew I loved this painting. When she moved to a condo in Denver she sent it to us.
