I'm going to be posting 3 lidded silverplate dishes today --butter holders maybe? Usually avoid silverplate, but these were thrift prices, just put out, and as you will see when I post the 3, they are kind of interesting so even they aren't good for resale, was curious to learn about them. All signed and measure from 6 -7 1/2 inches to top of finial. Will separate into three threads.

Here is last one. It seems like it might be all original as it does not come apart. This is more plain from the outside, but has a surprise inside. There is a silverplate bordered glass insert, and underneath that, inside the piece, is an amazing scene with a fairy, butterflies, etc. It has a very subtle pink tarnish to it in spots.

Anything you can tell me, much appreciated.

Looks fantastic! And you've got the patent date right there on the bottom!

Also a butter dish? Is there a name or style for part inside with the decoration?

I was thinking it was, but I do wonder about that insert (as cool as it is.) It doesn't seem to fit down into the base very much. Is it decorated on the edge?

Hope I'm using terms right. By "insert" meant the glass piece. The decorated part inside is connected to the unit.

The top looks the same to me, except for the engraved name. EDIT - Now I see you edited too!
