I have these 3 plates but have no idea which factories they're from or their dating. Could anyone please help? I would also like to know what inspired this 2 exotic bird pattern, which is universal and timeless.

I study tastes and styles and specialise in Straits Chinese antiques, in particular porcelain, beadwork and embroidery.

    Many thanks in advance.

    Warm wishes and kind regards,
    Ken Yap.

Sometime around the 1830s to 60s I suspect.

Welcome Glad to have you on board. I'm always looking for authenticated Chinese rank badges. Since I don't have a lot of money, I'm looking for a bargain. Not cheap - I just can't pay big bucks.

Without marks it is going to be difficult to pin down the exact factory but I imagine all are English Staffordshire and date from around the third quarter of the 19th century c1850-75

The British Porcelain FB page may well know, again. ;)

    I think a little earlier.

I love S/C stuff (my dad's entire family is S/C). Unfortunately, finding genuine S/C antiques is very difficult. And they usually cost a fortune.

Thank you so much, everyone. I had thought they were Victorian and English, so it's most gratifying to get concurrence on it. I have great trouble with dating, but ironically that's one of the main things I study.

Another quirky thing I study is how the designs came about, like William Morris's Strawberry Thief. Wouldn't it be exciting to find out if this 2-bird pattern was in some way related to Queen Victoria's marriage in 1940?
