Our last shops today are in a strip mall run by the same company.

In their book shop I found Anthony Quinn's book The Original Sin.

In their art store there was this PINK autograph.

But, the BEST was this. They marked it up. But, I don't think they knew the name, only the face. If they knew the name, it'd have been much higher.

I've been to Anthony Quinn Bay, in Rhodes, Greece.

Anthony Quinn Bay, also known as Vagies, is a picturesque beach on the eastern coast of Rhodes, famous for its turquoise waters and rocky coastline, and named after the actor who filmed "The Guns of Navarone" there.

Some of the rock you see is actually polystyrene and sprayed with rock dust
This was used, so the original rocks were not damaged by explosives whilst filming.

    I went Champagne diving there.

Nice poster. I stay away from those things. I have no room for them.

I'm not a big Quinn fan. But, I loved his role in City For Conquest with Cagney and Sheridan. He played the bad guy, and he was. Of course Zorba the Greek.

Hepburn's autograph looks just like how she signs. It's pretty distinct.

The only autographs I'd bet the farm on as being real are ones inscribed to people, and the signature looks like the celebrity's. I collect autographs, and while I believe them to be real, a COA means nothing to me. I bought a Lon Chaney Jr autograph that was being sold as a Lon Chaney Sr autograph. I told them weeks before it went off that it was Jr, and they told me the authorization company verified it was Sr. That's pretty much where my faith in COA's stand. That's Jr and his signature (or a great forgery). It's good enough to hang with all my others. I'd guess most are real.

I hate most modern music. But, I like her music. She has talent.

I collect old autographs, because I don't follow modern actors. There's one or two I like. The rest are forgetable.

Since you had to look up Pink, you're probably a little older than this current generation. You and I grew up watching and listening to talented performers. Though Pink has some decent albums.

I knew a guy in the UK over 30 years ago, let's call him Dodgy Mike:rolleyes:

He had a bad start in life, but had a handwriting talent I have never seen before or since.
He was not a known villain.

Bear in mind in my previous employ, I used to deal with forgers, thieves, counterfeiters, murderers and just about every bad bastard that existed.

When I became involved in antiques and collectables, I used to sell him Beatles memorabilia in the early 90's

If you shoved a piece of paper and a pen or pencil in front of him whilst having a conversation, you came away with the exact copy signatures of all the Beatles, Mick Jagger, Eric Clapton, Madonna, JFK etc, etc.

I know for a fact that he used to fly from the UK to Dallas and sat on the plane signing Beatles posters, LP’s and singles and come home with around $100K a few days later:rolleyes:

Pre Internet, I showed him a section of the "Millers Collectables Guide" on Pop memorabilia autographs.

His perusal resulted in Real, Fake, Fake, Mine, Fake, Real, Mine. Mine, Real etc etc:D
He was a bit like the guy in "Catch Me if You can" Frank Abagnale

Last I heard, his now ex missus grassed him up, and he was jailed for fraud and deception

I only own two autographs, both from famous British actors, one I witnessed in the 90's and the other my Auntie obtained in the 30’s

I love the letterhead, and the fact she had no problem signing the letter, yet wouldn't sign a photo.

Me and a friend who loved the show Kate and Allie went to a taping. We were the only two people standing outside the backstage entrance. Susan St James couldn't have been nicer giving her autograph. Jane Curtain refused. "I don't sign autographs" and walked away. My friend was so upset, she stopped watching the show.

If a person is not standing in front of you signing, there's a 50/50 chance you're buying a fake. It's always a gamble.

Bands like the Beatles, Rolling Stones or Led Zeppelin you have a 10% chance of getting something real.

My best conquest in collecting is Hank Williams Sr. It's a slip of paper with his autograph in pencil and I paid under $100. The seller's sister got it when she saw him in Mississippi. He even gave me a reproduction of the poster for the show. When we got there, he was on the phone with someone who was offering him triple to sell it to him. He was an honest old man, and kept his word.

I collect old Hollywood stars. I try to buy them inscribed to people. For a forger to inscribe would take a little extra time, and most people don't like inscribed pieces. They have to be special and fairly cheap. Nowadays most autographs are cheap.

I did pick up for $10 an autograph book from an antique shop, and it was filled with singers and bandleaders back from the 30s and early 40s. It has all three Andrew Sisters when they were still signing Andrew Sisters and not their first names. The person who got the autographs put the date and their first names. This girl's father worked for a NY radio station.
