I was wondering if anyone knew whee these where made. They are all inlaid with what seems like animal bone or something, the handles look like some type of animal bone or tooth also.

    Thank you 001.JPG 007.JPG

I would guess more along the lines of India.

"A fantastic set of six antique trays that fit into a stack, likely from British India turn of the 20th century. The wood is likely rosewood with attractive grains and the trays are inlaid with a star in the center consisting of bone contrasting a lighter wood, bands with bones with various width along the edges, as well as bones handles. Antique condition with stable age cracks on most trays but completely usable. The largest piece is 12 by 18 inches. The smallest one is 7 by 12 inches."

They seem to be fairly common, but so far no one really sure where they came from. India is a good possibility, as they do a lot of bone inlay. Usually more complex than these, though.

Morocco / North Africa might be another source.

So would I.:) There is a bit of an Indo-Persian look, but Indian influenced Southeast Asia would be my second guess. I mean Indonesia, Malaysia, maybe even the Philippines.
