    Hi,
I've had this for ages, always hoped to be able to find out who it belonged to but have never been able to find anything.
Sterling silver marks are for Thomas Callow & Son London 1902, handle is maybe antler, 24" in length..
Initials are H.F.D. - I've been in contact with the museum in New Brunswick (Canada) but have had no luck there, so hoping someone here might have an idea on how I can figure out who owned this.
Any ideas or information is great!
    Thanks for looking
    Mary

Here is a link to the 8th Hussars website and Historical Inquiries.

I would include the photos and any other information you might have. They should be available this fall to start looking. The problem is they might find multiple people with those initials during that time period.

It looks like a damaged riding crop to me, not a swagger stick. It's an antler handle and there should be a little leather strip or flap on the other end.

I agree with AF, riding crop.
The 8th Hussars was an Irish cavalry regiment in the British Army.
A swagger stick or pacing stick as I know them from my drill days usually had a rounded knob on the end.
