    Hello

I recently found this lovely 9ct solid Gold Gimmel Ring, Antique Fede Ring, Gold Engagem Ring, Betrothal Ring, Claddagh Ring.

It tests as 9ct gold and has the remains of a uk hallmark maybe which is nearly all but rubbed off. And a makers mark SCA

I’m trying to find out more about the maker approximate age etc

    Thanks in advance for any input e727d7f4-9d67-4711-9bc2-decac8362daf.jpeg bf95420b-c609-4c36-b102-9a17939b267c.jpeg 79471dc0-ff4b-4b70-892a-6f17e6a037c4.jpeg b44f4e7f-fa25-4a04-925d-a3bdcf5cb6ff.jpeg c00aec0d-a6c5-4210-8f6d-70d4710458d1.jpeg

That’s literally the best photo I can get. Its so small in size

Due to the design and moving gold bands rubbing togeather I assume it rubbed off

if defiantly looks like a set of hallmarks at some point :)

It’s literally the best angle tbh there nothing to make out at all except maybe the box shape surrounding the marks

You mean shaped like the eagle mark? The eagle mark is not such a perfect triangle. The shape does look familiar though.

When I saw "French looking depression" I thought you meant something like this:shame::

Yes, I think it is a Euro Continental mark. But right now I can't think which one.:(

9ct gold wasn't legal in Austria, so they didn't have a mark for it. The lowest legal fineness was 14ct, and still is.
Come to think of it, it was never legal in France either.

I think that was true for the most of continent except Germany who had their 333 finesse 8ct gold

but since a few years ago most European countries have started selling 9ct gold due to the high gold price I’ve noticed. Especially at the lower end of the market

True. And Bohemia in the olden days, when they had 'Granatengold', garnet gold, which is only .250.
Some sellers may do, but it isn't legally gold in those countries.
I sell it on the Dutch 'marktplaats', which isn't fussy about finenesses, but I always include the fineness in the title and include 'BWG' (Beneden Wettelijk Gehalte = Below Legal Fineness) in the text.
