2.jpg 1.jpg What do you think about this signature? As the seller told me, the picture was painted in the 19th century or the beginning of the 20th century.
The seller sells the painting for $ 15.

J.E. Jones. The silhouette appears to be contemporary.

It appears to be a commercial pen & ink silhouette of the subject. And not even a good likeness. (Sort of a generic "pilgrim-y" feel.) Could have been done on the 300th anniversary of his death or a little bit before. Could have been part of a series of English rulers. But certainly not 19th century or early 20th.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

J.E.Jones.....isn't that the actor, James Earl Jones, and isn't he a hobbyist artist????

Edit: But after looking at 'Live Auctioneers', probably might be wrong!!

It is clear, all thanks! I think that I won't buy. Old things interest me. And it is interesting, here at a forum sell Paintings cheap))? Yet I didn't watch sections)).

It's possibly a sketch by a hobbyist who copied something by J.E. Jones, including the signature. As a former pen and ink artist, I can tell you it doesn't look professional enough to be his. It's also at the most 20-30 years old.

Execution and frame look very 1970s.

If I hadn't seen the title, I would immediately have thought, "John Alden"
