A pair of black glass w/sterling overlay but looks like coil pattern pottery?

    A pair of black glass w/sterling overlay but looks like coil pattern pottery but who made them? They stand right around 8.5 inches tall and about 3.5 inches across at their widest points. TIA!

    The word that comes to mind is tumescent. No idea who made them, but the decorative style looks very late Victorian? Edwardian? Maybe not. Really, really don't know.

    If you hold the glass to a light, what color shows through?

    According to A Collector's Guide to Black Glass by Marlena Toohey this vase "was made by Diamond Glass-Ware Company c.1930. It was also made with a flared top. The mold was aquired by Fenton Art Glass Co. which used it with distinctive colors, mostly cased & opalescent c.1939."

    Your vase is shown on page 22 of the book.

    That's a lot later than I thought. Can't say the silver looks particularly deco to me. Rather retro for its time.
