Featured ABP American Brilliant EGGINTON

Another nifty item found in a box lot sitting angrily among other random pieces of glass wondering why it wasn't placed in the showcase with the other "good" items. This thing is HUGE! Looks like a spittoon? Signed Egginton on the bottom. About 12 inches wide and 8 inches tall. Whatcha think? Vase? Spittoon?

 

I think they usually just go by squat vase but there may be a fancier term I'm unaware of. Doubt it would be a spittoon - neck is too narrow. Even when I had all my teeth I doubt I could have hit it.

I've found a couple of nice things in box lots, but not this nice!!!

The best one I found was a Martha Washington plate, unscathed, on the very bottom of a box full of Tupperware and other kitchen junk. I'd always wanted one, too.

 

It's called a Flower Center. I've always wanted one!

 

Here's another similar Egginton squat vase that is very similar to yours but is smaller and not the exact same pattern. It sold on Rubylane.

oooh! Thanks, ascot and lady It's a shame it is not a spittoon. I would love to see an engraving or photograph of 5 or 6 lovely Victorian women dressed in their finery using this as a spittoon.
