    Hello,

I am new on this site and I need some help.

I am having issues finding out more about this ring. I think it is a Catholic priest ring. It is silver, gold, platinum, as I've been told. What do you think of its origins? 17th-18th century? I'm confused. What about its value?

    I would appreciate any insight.

    Thank you!

    Hello and welcome.
Afraid we will need clearer pictures and a picture of any marks.

It's a post-1960 Catholic Virgin Mary design, and probably post-1970. The Mary head is a common design, but I've never seen it in a ring before. No age on that at all. To figure out more we'll need to see clear images of the marks.

Thank you for your responses!! I do not have any other photos since it is not mine. I wanted to buy it. The seller first asked for $290 and then the last price was $100. I am not sure myself that it is genuine. He said he went to a specialist and got it verified and the elements were gold, silver, platinum and some other metal. He asked this price because he said it was from 18th century...

Now that I saw your replies, I made up my mind.

    Thanks again!!

Also, he said that it was "done/worked with a needle". I searched the internet and did not found any similar ones...

Without good photos to see the background texture it is hard to say how it was made. Most likely the texture was applied with an engraving tool, not a needle.

If that were really 18th century clerical jewelry or older, the price would have been higher than $300! I think the seller was looking for a fish to reel in. I've never seem that design in anything higher grade than sterling, but there's a first time for everything.

My thoughts exactly! He told me that a friend of his gave the ring to him 20 years ago and that the friend stole it from an old Catholic priest. I kept asking him about origins, marks and other details just for fun. Asked for clearer photos and I got the most abstract ones. Anyways, I wouldn't buy it. Even if it's true...stolen from wannabe priest Stalin  Nevermind!

I like history so I do enjoy old pieces of art or jewellery. Do you know a genuine market place for these? European if possible.

Thank you for your pieces of advice. I appreciate your insight.
