African bracelet money

    IMG_7248.JPG If i google similar bracelets seem to be called West African. Could anyone narrow it down a bit? Measurements 10 x 8 x 3,5 cm and 770 gram.

    Nigerian...I think. They used to make something called a wedding bracelet. I have a white metal one sitting here that was purchased in Nigeria. The designs are different, but the overall shape is similar. I've seen cast bronze ones like yours that were Nigerian sand-cast pieces.

    Thanks Evelyb30. Your lead led me to this page, with a very similar bracelet attributed to the Djerma, living in the Sahel and many in Niger river valley.
