    Hello
I would like your opinion on these small figures who seem African. The material is very similar to paper mache but I'm not 100% sure. Maybe Egyptian. Could they be children's toys?

Please post some closeups of individual figures - I would like to be able to see their costumes and other details. And select "full image" after uploading your photos, so they will be larger than the thumbnails.

If they are portraying some real place, I can't figure it out. Somewhere with camels and donkeys, and palm trees - so presumably somewhere in the Middle East/North Africa. The people are not portrayed as black, so not further south in Africa. The boats look a bit like Egyptian river dhows. But the off-one-shoulder short robes are not typical of any Middle Eastern region that I am familiar with - they tend to wear long, full robes. The hats are also unfamiliar. The little houses with peaked roofs are also different - most traditional houses in the mid-east have flat roofs.

The material they are made of looks like a polymer clay such as Sculpey. It may just be somebody's craft project of imaginary people.

Thank you for your opinion and description.
I wondered if it could not be ancient figures used to set up some nativity scenes.

Not too many boats in typical nativity scenes. ;)

Continuing to research I saw that the hats and faces are very similar to the Mesopotamian style, perhaps Iraq. this would also explain the boats. The figures are light so I don't think they are polymer clay. I believe more of some type of Paper Machè.
