African head

I have here an African hardwood head.



What do you guys think of it? Can anyone offer any more info on it?

Hi Sam, I have couple of pieces, 1 similar, and 1 not. I can't really tell you anything specific, but if its not labeled on the bottom, its mostly a nice common wood sculpture. Mine are not labeled. I'm sure someone will be able to help with more information.

 

I believe most of such carvings, made of heavy ebony or African blackwood, are made by Makonde carvers in Tanzania and Mozambique.
