Age and type of leather of this collar box/pouch?

Hello everyone! I'm hoping you can advise me as to what age this drawstring collar box is and what kind of leather it is? It was so dry when I got it, I have since moisturized it! Do the collars give any indication of age? Thanks as always

 

I've seen pictures of my grandfather wearing collars like these, circa 1917 - 1920. They were made to be removed when you washed a shirt and were replaced when stained or worn. The box itself I'm not so certain.

This looks like a mark for the leather/suede round box, not sure the straight line below has anything to do with it........

I took a look and although it does look a mark, I think it is just an imperfection in the leather
