Thank you for comments on this. Does it seems really big for a commode ? 45" tall x 44" wide x about 19" deep.

Perhaps, but it is a large one. Would be good for a baby changing table too!

Yes, very close, typical frame & panel construction of 1850s-60s.
The style is late Classical, a style that was popular for almost 100 years, long time. Modeled on Empire and often tried to market as empire but it isn't, it's Classical.

45 inches high? YIKES! seems like a dresser/chest of drawers that has been converted at some point with those bottom cupboard doors.

An unusual piece, combining a commode with a dresser. Yes, mid 19th century and build like a tank. A stylistic descendent of early 19th century delicate Empire or Regency pieces by the likes of (the real) Phyfe and Launnier, but not nearly as exquisite (or nearly as pricey).

Or maybe a desk? Is the top drawer a drawer or does it fold down to make a writing platform?

Yeah, agrees, probably is. It's kind of an odd duck at 45 inches high, normally sideboards / servers are in the 36-40 range, 45 is getting on up there to dresser type height.
Still, changes to, a small sideboard/server for very tall people! :p

Any idea of value on something like this? In the Midwest. Cherry wood?

Hmmm, i would say very little, maybe $200. tops? @verybrad and @Ghopper1924 would know better than i would.

Yes, even for Cherry, a wood i like very much. It's the form, to get good & better dollars today for solid wood antique furniture it has to be a desirable form and, this just isn't.

Sad to say $200 would indeed be tops. You can't buy anything new of remotely this quality for that price.

Thank you for all of the help on this. Any idea as to what part of the country it may have likely been made in?

If you are in the midwest, I'd guess Cincinnati which at the time that this was made, was the largest furniture manufacturing center in the nation.

Late to the party but pretty much agree with what others have said. The form is a bit odd. Suppose it would be handy for storing whatever, wherever.
