Featured Age/Name on Landscape Oil Painting

Hello! Can anyone help me read the signature and possibly determine the age of this painting? It's about 20" x 24".

 

I don't know who did it. While pleasant to the eye, it's not technically expert, so I would think it's a hobbyist painting. Looks to be mid century handling of the subject matter, almost like a paint by number. What country and state did you get this from?

 

I read "J Chr." And I would think a hobbyist painting too. Not Ameican, obviously. A woman's costume showing that much leg would be into the 20th century but I'd think a tad earlier than mid-century. From what I can see... bloomers, drop waist coat, and wide brim hat. That would be 1920ish.

Thanks, everyone- I thought it was a hobbyist, but I liked the composition. I got it in the southern USA, but it could be European.

 

I think it's very attractive too. Obviously done by someone with formal training. Don't think the frame is period. Why don't you open the back up and see what you find inside?

I think it could be European too, that's why I asked.

I would date the frame at about 1970s but the painting appears to be older.
