    Hi,
They are called Tantalus and usually used for liquor bottles. Been making them for many a year. I have never seen a perfume one.

I had a 4711 perfume bottle set that looked like a Tantalus.

I have a set at the store without lock and key. Mine are definitely 1930s Art Deco.
    Mine are a gentleman's set and not a woman's.

When you take the tops off, are there stoppers or something else?

Looking again, the heart lock might put yours later. Up to the 1950s
Also the base looks a lot like some of the English condiment set bases.
    Any markings on the bottom?

I was looking why is was called a Tantalus and locked and found this. I thought is was pretty cool!!

Tantalus was initially known for having been welcomed to Zeus' table in Olympus, like Ixion. There he is said to have misbehaved and stolen ambrosia and nectar to bring it back to his people, and revealed the secrets of the gods.

  13. The Cardinal company of the united States made these "tantalus" sets for dime stores back in the 1930's. These are collected and called novelty perfume sets.
