    DA2DAC7B-0CF8-40AC-A183-8E4CA393DC5F.jpeg Greetings,

I’m out thrifting and saw this bust of a woman. It’s substantially heavy and appears to be mounted on a pretty solid piece of wood.

I couldn’t read the signature on the back and I think this is alabaster. I’ve never owned a bust however I’ve always liked the look of them. I’m considering going back and picking this up. They are asking $90 for it. Is this a good price or is that a bust (pun intended). AEEE7F7F-C247-498F-958D-E2F3B75CB476.jpeg

    Could it be parian ware?

Looks like mounted on stained and lacquered pine base. The crack is worrisome as it almost seems to have been glued back together

    Alabaster is correct.

I would say alabaster and yes she has been repaired. I would buy it for $90.

Love the bust but it deserves a proper base.

    How tall?

Its over a foot tall. I may need to invest in a keychain tape measure...

They may have cracked it when they drilled it to put a pin the bottom. One of those, "Oh, $#&@!" moments.

    I think so too.

When I very carefully (sweating and swearing) flipped it over to look it had a single screw up the bottom of the stand leading into the bust. I don’t think it was part of the original bust. It would be odd for someone to sign it over a crack, wouldn’t it?

Compare at your leisure.....it's A. "something"ell?? You can see the loop at the top of that second Capital...........you can also see some shiny glue!!
She looks to also have a hairline crack over her left breast in the first image.
Too bad.....her face is very pretty!!!!

I'd guess F for the first letter of the last name - A. Fellini.

    I see a H. -ellini :cyclops:
Even with that crack, she is a beauty and I’d gladly pick her at 90:woot:

Looking again - The only capital script letter that's making sense to me now is an L - Lellini - which i didn't think would be an actual name - but it is.

She is beautiful, pity about the glued break.
Siggy H. Bellini? The only H Bellini I could find was a Brazilian football (soccer) player. I don't think this is by him.:playful:
