Amethyst wine glass with HUGE foot

I picked some of these up today. They have a subtle swirl in the bowl, and about 4 ounce capacity ... roughly 6 1/2' tall, 2 3/4" across the rim .... and over 3 1/2" across the foot! at the bottom of the inside of each bowl is a pea-sized bump (never seen this before) Oddly, it appears that someone went to the trouble to have the rim of one ground down ... as if there had been a chip.

Do you think these are from Mexico? or could they be old blown glass? or something else?
