And the age of this coat?

I just repaired and restored this today..... needed a lot of mending. I posted the button on a thread here, but here is the entire black cashmere women's coat. I replaced the buttons, one of the originals was missing. Thanks for your help.

The coat is a straight style; the buttons are plastic and metal, I think. The dolman sleeves narrow down to the rolled cuffs that can be unrolled. The larger buttons were not exactly centered they were off a little to one side. In between two of the large buttons were large metal snap fasteners (one i missing half a snap.) The collar is small. I replaced the buttons.

The side pockets are slits, sitting close to the waist.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I love the coat - but don't know the date. What is the lining made of? (Assuming that it is lined...)

The coat is awfully full looking. 1950s?

I just had to fix a button on the coat I told about earlier and discovered how poorly they were sewn on. :(
What a lousy job. They must not care a whit. :p

Post WWII. During the was, there was a great push to conserve the use of resources, including cloth used for women's clothes.. A few years after the war, designers started showing swingy skirts, dolman sleeves, etc.

It is more of an A-line than a swing. It looks more straight up and down when I wear it. I love the dolman sleeves.... I have wider shoulders and coats and dresses are hard to find for me. Yeah, I had to fix another coat from the 80s, long coat, thread was dry rotting, lost another button, had to replace all of them. I love older wool, cashmere, and alpaca coats.
