    Hi,

I've recently been sorting through my late grandmothers china cabinet. Amongst a load of stamped Beswick figures and wade whimsy figures are some unmarked animals. Can anyone identify them or are they likely to be junk? Thanks.

I found some of those pigs with big Saxony stickers, but I don't know where they are from. Just search Saxony pig figurine.

Hi Hannah Marie - The first grouping look like they might be bone china. Searching bone china goats, ox, etc. might provide some leads. The pig looks English to me - reminds me of Wade but I don't think it is.

The pig looks like Disney's 3 Little Pigs cartoon character. Japan is the most likely maker for that one.

Of the four in the first picture, the collie looks Japanese.

The other 3 could be either Japan or Germany. Both were makers and importers of animal figurine.
Look closely at the undersides (inside legs, or belly). Germany may be stamped or imprinted. The imprints are hard to see. If 1960s Japan the paper labels may have been taken off.

No great value. I sell these in my shop from $5-12 each. If the pig proves to be a Disney knockoff, he might go higher.

I'd go along with the above posts.
There is a good collectors guide to Beswick, and possibly your local library has a copy; that might help verify the opinions that none of these are Beswick.
(I used the guide as a resource in selling a Beswick Hereford cow, which my Mom had found at the Goodwill some 30 years ago. She always said it was valuable, and the guide listed it at $800 book value. I sold it on ebay to a collector in the UK, for $825.)

Bases needed please. There were quite a few animal makers in the UK. Beswick sometimes has very faint marks, but you can tell a lot from the feet.

If you want really valuable Beswick, there's a mouse one that gets four figures.
