    Hi all,

Another one for the rock sleuths It is translucent and 4th and 5th photos show a spot where, depending how you hold it, it flashes like a crystalline(only way I know how to explain it) flash The surfaces are totally smooth with no pitting It is cold to the touch, set in 14k with small diamonds. The maker's mark is shown and says EA in a circle with both 14k and 585 on the bale

The obvious is carnelian to me because of the color but I really have never seen carnelian that looks mottled I asked a year or more ago or so on another forum and someone said coral but that just did not seem right. I will admit I do not know anywhere near enough about coral

Thispiece is driving Ms Daisy crazy! Help! Maybe someone here will recognize the maker's mark which can help narrow it down a bit.

As always, thank you for anything you can come up with.

It is stone of some sort but the mottling is not something consistent with any carnelian I have seen either. There is the possibility it has been dyed. Only the color is at all like coral; nothing else about it looks like something that grew organically.

Often, but not always. My 'sleep hygiene' is terrible with no regularity. I don't have insomnia, it's just that my internal clock is a cuckoo clock. Was just doing one last check in before turning in. 'Night.

My internal clocks says I need to live in Europe somewhere while it is daytime in the nighttime over here

    Rest well!

Thritto for jadeite.:) It does come in this colour naturally, so probably not dyed.

I did not know about jadeite in this color. Jadeite is so dense, doubt it could take dye well, unlike chalcedony, which is porous. BWDIK?

It can be dyed, acid dipped, then colored polymer impregnated:banghead: type C!

Ah, thanks for info. But wouldn't work well without the damage cause by the acid.

There is damage from the acid... but polymer coating/injection hide that:facepalm:

I imagine the acid makes little pits the polymer fills in.:kiss:

Not certain their dating is correct, though.
