    I love this artist, he taught Lautrec, Munch, Singer Sargent and was a close friend of Degas who painted him twice.

    Beautiful portrait, James, and a lovely lady.
    Has it been resized? Or was it always without hands? The sitter wasn't, she is wearing black lace gloves.
    She reminds me of the Dutch queen Emma:

    Incredible talent there. She looks as though she could say something any moment. I suspect she was trying to keep her composure but she had just about tired of the sitting required for the painting in my view!:joyful:
