    Hi all,

Does anyone recognize this Siamese pottery cat?

The eyes appear to be made of glass.

It weighs about 3 lbs and is 8.5" long, x 4.5" at highest point, x 4.3" at widest point.

    Thanks!

Are you sure it's pottery? It looks like it could be chalkware.

I hadn't considered that because the chalkware figures I've come across usually have damage from the slightest dings and aren't that dense. But you raise a good point. I'll see if I can find anything. Thx.

I'd think chalkware/plaster, too, because there's no vent hole.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

This, inside the circle, looks like a small vent hole............IS IT???

Looks like a bubble that rose from the plaster mold and popped on the surface. If this is chalkware, the mold to this cat would have been filled from the bottom, shaken to remove bubbles from the surface of the figure, then dried and painted.

Thanks, anti. I'm just coming across old messages to threads in my gmail account. Not sure why I didn't see the alerts before in here.
