Another whatsit for your consideration

This was in a lot with a bunch of sewing notions, old buttons, and belt buckles. So, I assume it may have something to do with sewing. But, I've never seen anything like it.

The ends are solid metal and have some weight to them. It all unscrews, as you can see in the one picture.

Anyone know what it is?

It certainly looks like a hat pin. Along the lines of this one. Also Art Deco.

A jabot is a ruffle worn at the neck. Certainly there is such a thing as a jabot pin but the terms "jabot pin" and "hat pin" are not synonyms. Jabot pins are typically lighter weight and symmetrical -- for obvious reasons. Jabots were popular in the 1930s but they weren't a 1920s fashion.

They're hard to wear now, but you could stick one into the buttonhole on a denim jacket or something. I wouldn't want to push that through fabric.
