Recently found this landscape by Oregon photographer Peter Schutte in the 'Zone System' developed by Ansel Adams & Fred Archer.
I can't find much about him online-a mention about being an assistant to Minor White & maybe Adams (?), and that he's taught at local schools and done workshops. He self-published a book with more examples of his work and to me-they're very solid images.

Marina-Thanks ! When my Wife first saw it she said-'Minor White,Adams !?'....well no,but I've seen lots of Adams,Weston and White (in galleries & museums), so this'll work fine.

That's as close as possible to the ultimate image of the tenacity of life. I cannot imagine a more significant single plant on the face of our earth. A thrilling portrait, Bosko...thanks!

Thanks Whit-Yep,those Bristlecone Pines are extraordinary. You nailed it Whit-a 'thrilling' image of an almost unfathomably ancient (least in this dimension) life form.

The Sycamore at Hadrian's Wall, felled by a couple morons for something to do, wasn't 5 percent as old as the Pinus longaeva (~4856 years) in the portrait. Its demise was a terrible cultural loss, but by comparison a minor incident.

Those are the immortal 'Goons', from the original 'Goon Show', this pic's from the early 50's.They were the forefathers of Monty Python and lots of other modern comedy. Two you might know of are Peter Sellers & Spike Milligan.

    Lovely photograph bosko!

A little off track but back in college, my photography class took a field trip to a small gallery in Georgetown that was exhibiting Ansel Adams photos and...he was there signing copies of his book. I had no money to buy a book so I just soaked up his presence and the experience for free.

We're both old enough to have seen a few giants in our time SOS ! I remember going to Yosemite with my folks in the early 60's, and my 'shutterbug' Dad made a beeline for the Ansel Adams Gallery where we got to see the maestros work in person.
From what I can find, those signed prints were going for $200 to a few grand back then-for comparison,a new VW was about $1500.
PS-Adams was also very closely involved with the Sierra Club.
