  1. Is it possible to identify this vase? It has been in my family for about 120 years, but I don't know anything about it.

Looks Austro/Bohemian, perhaps from a factory like Amphora. Date you suggest looks right, c1890-1905.

I used my 'Bing' image engine search, which collects all pictures on the Net of anything and it found charts of all antique pottery marks. I did quick visual scan of any mark that looked like the one shown and discovered that is was likely a date mark. Nothing in any of the other pottery charts was remotely similar.

MINTONS was a major company in Staffordshire pottery, "Europe's leading ceramic factory during the Victorian era", an independent business from 1793 to 1968. It was a leader in ceramic design, working in a number of different ceramic bodies, decorative techniques, and "a glorious pot-pourri of styles - Rococo shapes with Oriental motifs, Classical shapes with Medieval designs and Art Nouveau borders were among the many wonderful concoctions"

The family continued to control the business until the mid-20th century.

Its not Minton, even I know that.

That similar mark is a scratch in the base.

    --- what Davey said!

It is earthenware of some sort, not Staffordshire either.

I agree with the others, Likely Austrian Amphora. Maybe that’s a number 2? DACEB134-0626-467C-9E0E-60EF262A0A69.jpeg

Too Bad about the foot, do you still have it? Not likely I guess.

Amphora/Teplitz/Royal Dux are more highly 'finished' with firing & glaze.

Thank you for that research source. My Google image search is never very helpful, and often amusingly incorrect.

Only useful when properly applied, as with any internet search.
