antique carved wood

    hello everyone... just want to know if this sculpture is old, it came from germany dont know if it is german made, it stands 14 inches.

    I straightened it here, but does it actually lean? It's not very sophisticated work. It might have been part of a large diorama type thing.

    Seeing the larger shot, I'd be thinking more 1960 than 1360.

    Hello, Tom. Following on from what has already been said, letting Google have its way with 'medieval german wood carving' produces many things that are basically similar, except much more detailed & carefully executed. Wondering if this could be a souvenir from a German church or cathedral, or from a town with a noted religious establishment, maybe something local crafts people make. (Or maybe sold, there made in China!)

    That's a pretty good guess, except that I might be thinking Swiss or Italian too; they make all sorts of wood carvings in the Tyrolean region.
