Antique Cast Iron Kettle

My husband brought this home from an auction with a bunch of other stuff. It is small: only 6.5" across the top. Is there any way to tell how old this is or what it was used for. Thank you so much.

I don't have any ideas; but you could go back to your post, click "edit" and select "full-size" for all the images.
That will save time for others who might have some thoughts.
