Antique Chair Does Anyone Know What It Is?

    Hello I am trying to find out what this chair is. Any help would be great.

    I can tell you for sure it is at least 100 years old. You can also lift each arm and it folds as shown in the second pic.

    Also called "savonarola" chair.

    Yeah, agrees with above posts, also called an X frame folding chair or Dante chair. Here is a mid 16th century example at marhamchurch

    Mid 16th century walnut X frame folding chair, with five petal rose decoration in the centre of the frame and on armrests. The seat and back rest covered with a piece of 16th century Persian carpet. This is the type of chair that Henry VIII would have used throughout his palaces.

    Provenance: Philadelphia Museum of Art item: 1974-9-11 described as Dante Chair.
